Denise Ivey Helps Club Exceed Its Goal!
Denise Ivey President and Publisher, The Courier-Journal
Denise Ivey is Chair of the Champions 4 Her Club annual giving campaign. Her goal this past year was to attract 140 Champions or raise $140,000 and she did, but she didn’t stop there. At a recent Champions event she explained, “When women do better their children do better, when their children do better, the community does better as a whole.” With this popular campaign phrase, Denise rallied women to become Champions all across Louisville.

Others joined in too. Board members led a call campaign that helped fulfill the challenge grant that was made by Lindy B. and William Street at our annual luncheon this past September. With this generous opportunity, the leadership of Denise Ivey, and the support and enthusiasm of our board members, volunteers, donors and friends, we surpassed the original goal, raising $157,239.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Lindy B. and William Street, Denise Ivey, and all of the Champions who joined together to help make 2007 a success!

Finance 4 Her Kicks Off 2008 Coaching Network

Finance 4 Her launched its first Coach Network for 2008 at the Louisville Urban League for women from The Healing Place who completed financial education classes last fall. This establishes The Healing Place as our newest Host Site for implementation of Finance 4 Her. Some of the volunteer coaches are graduates of The Healing Place and others signed up to support this new opportunity. Nine teams began their five-month commitment on February 28th. Over a light meal, participants met with their coaches for the first time and determined what their focus, goals and objectives will be between now and August. Contact Margo Waddell at margo@w4w.org for more information or to become a coach.

Until next time,

Ann L. Coffey
