| More than 50 community leaders attended the BEST press announcement on June 14. |
Women 4 Women held a press announcement on June 14, to release the Basic Economic Security Tables™ (BEST) for Kentucky that were created by Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW). The report includes the comprehensive BEST Index, which calculates the monthly income necessary for families to cover their basic expenses, including childcare, housing, health care, transportation, savings and retirement.

Did you know that . . .
- Single workers in Kentucky need to earn $23,988 a year, or more than $11 an hour – almost 60% higher than minimum wage – just to cover basic expenses.
- Only 15% of jobs projected to be created by 2018 that do not require a four-year degree will provide economic security to a single parent with two young children.
- Only 32% of all jobs projected to be created by 2018 will provide economic security to a single parent with two young children.
